Frequently for speaker asked questions

Are the Sky Speakers rated for outdoor use?
Plus icon

While not rated for outdoor use specifically, you can place the Sky Speakers into an outdoor overhang or covered patio as long as long as they are not exposed to water directly. The main thing to avoid is placing them in a location where moisture could accumulate on them overtime.

How many Sky Speakers can I connect to one Juke amplifier?
Plus icon

Typically you'll connect 2 speakers per zone, so 12 speakers on the 6-zone units and 16 speakers on the 8-zone unit. However, if you have a large space that requires 4 speakers on a zone either of the Juke amplifiers can accommodate that with the Juke+ best suited to handle that given it's higher wattage output.

How should I wire the Sky Speakers?
Plus icon

Ideally you'll have a positive (+) and negative (-) connection for each speaker arrive at the central location where it will connect to the amplifier. This can be done by running an individual 2 conductor wire from each speaker or running a 4 conductor wire from a pair of speakers, with the latter option requiring less wire.

What kind of sound quality can I expect from the Sky Speakers?
Plus icon

These sky speakers are high-performance in-ceiling speakers that offer a rich and full sound. The 8" woofer offers noticeably more bass and low-end frequency from songs in comparison to the smaller 6.5" or 4" in-ceiling speakers. Also with a sensitivity rating at 90db, these speakers are highly efficient resulting in the clear and high output an amplifier paired with it.

Can you please explain the install process in more detail?
Plus icon

Rather than following a typical process of using a drill or screwer to mount the speakers into place, the Sky Speakers offer a unique quick to connect installation mechanism that can be done with the tool in the box. After inserting the speakers into the cutout (9.625"), you then insert the tool into the 4 rivets around the perimeter of the speaker frame which fans out of the wings that hold it into the drywall / sheetrock.

Juke is all in One

The Juke is the only product you need for powering, controlling, and streaming audio to multiple speaker sets across your house. No need for a separate receiver, streamer, or in-wall controllers.

Stream From Your Apps

Juke displays each of its connected speaker zones independently in Spotify which allows premium Spotify users to stream any content from their Spotify account to Juke seamlessly.
Use the groups feature in the Juke app to set a multi-zone endpoint in Spotify such as Whole House or Upstairs Rooms.

Given this is Wi-Fi based input like Airplay, users can stream freely across their home as long as connected to the Wi-Fi network.
Tab Mobile
Stream any form of content from any Bluetooth capable device (phone, tablet, computer, smart TV) to Juke without reliance on a local Wi-Fi network connection.
The Juke 6 & 8 support range up to 50ft, and the Juke+ supports streaming range up to 150ft with a boosted antenna.
Use Juke as a DLNA receiver to stream music from your own Cloud server, PC, or NAS. One app we recommend for doing so is called BubbleUPnP as it allows you to organize and control all of your audio files seamlessly in addition to offering Tidal Connect and Soundcloud.
Use the groups feature in the app to set as many zones you want this audio source played to.

Third Party Connections

Outputs: In addition to the 6 powered speaker zones, the Juke+ has 2 outputs on the device for connecting to third party devices like a powered subwoofer with the RCA output or a surround sound receiver with the Optical output. You can think of these outputs essentially as a 7th and 8th zone that you can group together with any of your 6 speaker zones and play any of your desired audio inputs/sources out to.

Inputs: In addition to the wireless streaming functionality, the Juke+ can also accept wired audio inputs with a both digital audio or analog connection. Common device types for this might be anything from a vinyl player to a television.

Frequently asked Juke+ questions

How many speakers can you connect to the Juke+?
Plus icon

With 12 speaker channels on the amplifier, you can connect 12 speakers across 6 zones very seamlessly. Given the high wattage on this amplifier, you can also effectively power 4 speakers per zone without any issue if need be as long as the speakers are rated at 4 ohms or higher. Need more than 6 zones? You can combine multiple Jukes together on the network and have all the zones appear in the same app.

Are there any on-going fees associated with owning the Juke+?
Plus icon

No, there are not any recurring fees assocaited with the Juke+. We do have the ability to push over the air software updates to all our amplifiers though and do so with some regularity to bring new and additional features to enhance the user experience at no additional cost.

What are the main benefits of the Juke+ compared to the Juke 6 or 8?
Plus icon

The Juke+ offers nearly twice the wattage that the other Juke model does, allowing it to power larger and/or outdoor speakers more efficiently and with noticeable more output. Additionally, the Juke+ offers the ability to do audio equalization for each zone directly in the app and also comes with an antenna for boosted Bluetooth range and also Wi-Fi connectivity when connecting to the network wirelessly.

Is Juke compatible with Android & Apple?
Plus icon

Yes, the Juke Audio app is available in both the Google Play and Apple App store and allows for full control of the system such as volume control, zone selection, and more. In terms of streaming capabilities to the device, Apple users can stream any app/content they want to any of the speaker zones via Airplay 2. Android users can do this as well via a third party app called AirMusic or stream directly from Spotify or use Bluetooth to send their audio from their app of choice.

How do I connect a subwoofer to the Juke+?
Plus icon

Using the RCA output on the device, you can run a wired connection into the RCA input on a subwoofer. This will then serve as one of the zones in the app and give you the ability to tie that subwoofer in with any of your connected speakers easily and efficiently.

Frequently asked questions

What music apps can I stream to Juke with?
Plus icon

Apple users can stream any app / content to Juke via Airplay 2 over the Wi-Fi network. Additionally, Spotify users of any device type can send audio from the app to Juke via Spotify Connect which is also done over the Wi-Fi network. You can also send audio to Juke via Bluetooth as long as you're in range of the Juke. Want additional options? Connect a wired audio source (streamer, vinyl player, etc.) via Juke's USB ports.

How do I play audio from my TV to Juke?
Plus icon

You can send audio to Juke wirelessly either from an AppleTV via Airplay without any range limitations or from a Smart TV via Bluetooth. If you want to run a hardwired connection from the output of the TV, you can do so by running an optical or HDMI connection from the output of the TV back to the Juke and then converting it with these adapters (USB to RCA, RCA to HDMI, RCA to Optical) to connect into Juke's USB port.

Is Juke powerful enough for all of my speakers?
Plus icon

Each of Juke's zones have separate amplification components built inside that allow it to efficiently power speaker sets across multiple rooms from a single amplifier. Juke will provide strong output into in-wall or in-ceiling speaker with a wattage rating up to about 150 watts. If you have a preference for louder music and/or have larger speakers or outdoor speakers in a larger space, we do recommend utilizing the Juke+ model for it's additional wattage output.

How do I connect a surround sound receiver with Juke?
Plus icon

While Juke is used to power stereo output across the entirety of a home, some users may elect to use a separate surround sound receiver in their main TV/media area. In this scenario, you can connect the zone 2 output of that surround sound receiver into the Juke as an input via this USB to RCA adapter. If you'd like to have the surround sound room be an output of the Juke, please see our support tab for details.

Is Juke compatible with Sonos?
Plus icon

While there is not a direct integration between Juke and Sonos, you can connect a Sonos port (or other streamer) into the Juke's USB port via this USB to RCA adapter. Doing so will allow you to use the Sonos app to stream to Juke and other Sonos speakers in the house together. Important to note that wireless streaming to the Juke and it's connected speakers it already supported natively without Sonos though, and you can use Apple HomePods as "wireless" speakers if you want to add speakers in a room where there isn't wired speakers in place.
