Two-Way Integration Ideas for Your Surround Sound System and Juke Distributed Audio System
Using a Juke with an AVR(Audio Video Receiver) lets you achieve a cohesive whole-home audio experience between a main media room / theater and the rest of the areas of the home powered by Juke. Here are some practical and creative ways to make the most of that setup with your Juke Audio amplifier and AVR of your choosing:
1. Stream Music from Juke Through the AVR Speakers Want the same AirPlay, Spotify Connect, or Bluetooth audio playing in your home theater room as the rest of the house? Use the RCA or Optical output on the Juke+ amplifier to send audio directly into the AVR’s input. That way, your AVR’s speakers join in with the rest of the house. This lets you use one app and one phone to control music across the whole home and the theater room. If you’re using a Juke 6/8 that does not have RCA or Optical outputs, another thing to consider is getting an AVR that also supports Airplay 2 as this will still allow you to stream from an Apple phone/tablet to both the AVR and Juke together without requiring a physical connection.
2. Watch TV and Broadcast Sound to Other Rooms or Outdoors If your TV is connected to an AVR, you can take the AVR’s Zone 2 or Pre-Out audio , run it into the Juke via RCA (or USB port on the Juke 6/8 with USB to RCA adapter ) and send that sound to your patio , kitchen , or other Juke-controlled zones. Perfect for keeping the big game playing while you grab a drink or hit the grill.
3. Use the AVR as a Dedicated Source for a Juke Zone or Zones Want to dedicate a Juke zone or zones just for AVR output? Assign one or multiple zones in the Juke app for the AVR input. That way, you can switch over to that zone at any time—no remapping or configuration needed. Great for TVs with multiple sources (cable, streaming, console).
4. Combine Music + TV Zones for Party Mode Say you’re hosting a party and want music in most of the house but want the TV audio to go to the patio as well. You can play a music source from the Juke to all zones, then switch just the outdoor zone to your AVR/TV input via the Juke app.
Connecting Juke to your Surround Sound AVR (and the Other Way Around)
If you're setting up a Juke system alongside a home theater receiver (AVR) or AV processor, there are a couple of ways to connect them depending on what you're trying to achieve. Here's a straightforward guide to help you out.
Option 1: Sending Audio from Juke to Your AVR
Goal: Play music from your Juke through your AVR's speakers.
How to do it:
Using RCA or Optical Output: If you have a Juke+, it comes with RCA and Optical outputs. Connect the RCA output (Zone 7) or Optical output (Zone 8) from the Juke+ to an available input on your AVR (like AUX or TV IN). On your AVR, select the input you connected to hear the Juke's audio. Assigning Sources in the Juke App: In the Juke app, go to the settings and assign the desired source (like AirPlay or Spotify) to the output zone you're using for the AVR (Zone 7 or 8). Keep in mind:
Set the initial volume through your AVR’s remote or app and then adjust when needed from the app/device you're using to stream. This setup is great for streaming music from your Juke to your surround sound system.
Option 2: Sending Audio from Your AVR to the Juke
Goal: Play audio from your AVR (like TV sound) through speakers connected to your Juke.
How to do it:
Using an RCA-to-USB Adapter (Juke 6/8 and Juke+): Plug the USB end into the Juke's USB port. In the Juke app, assign the USB input to the zones where you want the sound to play. Using RCA or Optical Output (Juke+ Only): If your AVR has an RCA preout (typically labeled zone 2/3), connect it to the RCA input on the Juke+. In the Juke app, enable the RCA input under settings and then assign it to the desired zones from the groups tab. Keep in mind:
Ensure your AVR is set to output PCM audio for compatibility. Set the initial AVR volume gain and then adjust the volume through the Juke app for the zones you're using.
